Growth Mindset In a growth mindset people believe that basic abilities can be developed overtime through dedication and hard work. Also, it can contribute to them by being more successful in their lives. Practicing a growth mindset may make you feel better and overtime you may learn that mistakes are okay. Don’t give up after a simple mistake or flaw. Another reason you shouldn’t worry is because it’s not the end of the world and it can also contribute to you being more confident about yourself. In an article written by Carol Dweck, a Harvard Business Review claims that people with a growth mindset tend to achieve more than people with a fixed mindset because “they worry less about looking smart and they put more energy into learning” (2). This is because they actually want to learn and succeed and while people with a fixed mindset focus on looking smart instead of putting more energy into learning. That is probably because they are afraid to ask questions when they don’t understand something and are afraid that they would be made fun of. You should acknowledge and embrace challenges, because if you hide your weaknesses you will never overcome them. To conclude, having a growth mindset is important because people need to know that failing is okay and that if you fail, it makes you want to do better. Artifact on Growth Mindset Our artifact is two polaroids. We decided to use two polaroids to explain a growth mindset teaching and learning over time. We used an old polaroid and a new polaroid to show the change. The polaroids have a photo coming out of them in that photo we have our paragraphs. Having a growth mindset means to evolve. Like the polaroids the growth mindset was old and misunderstood but now it is new, understood and evolved. The old polaroid represents the fixed mindset. The polaroid like the fixed mindset was instantly and easy to take. But the newer polaroid which represents the growth mindset is harder and needs patience for the picture to develop. If the fixed mindset had the newer polaroid they would have given up and been irritated by the long process. On the other hand, the fixed mindset will be overwhelmed by the development of the picture. Reflection While working on the project I learned new information about growth and fixed mindset. I learned that people with a growth mindset tend to accept challenges and they want to learn new things, while people with a fixed mindset don't like challenges and worry about looking smart not learning. As a matter of fact I learned that I have both a fixed and growth mindset. I have a growth mindset because I ask questions when I don't get something, and I have a fixed mindset because I hate failing like today I got a 68/100 on a project and I felt like it was the end of the world. I can work well with others but it is very tempting to get off topic like I would work and then out of nowhere I would talk about random things
One fact about "The Crucible" is that many people blamed other people for things they didn't do. While reading the Crucible I felt a little lost because their were some really big words that I didn't understand but then when Ms.Park Started helping us I started getting the story. A new idea I learned while reading The Crucible" is that when you blame another person for something they didn't do it is called Scapegoating. A academic decision I will make based on my reading and understanding of The Crucible" is study words I don't get or understand.
October Reflection So far I have been reaching my goals I mostly have all A's except for ELA but I am close to getting a A. I have not been reading books that much, I only read when I have to for reading logs. For participating I have been doing really good since I help my team out and talk about main topics but sometimes I get off topic. One strength I have in class is doing good in class and staying on the main topic, and a weakness is get off topic. I don't feel that I' am the best writer yet mainly because ELA is the hardest class for me. Essay's are challenging for me mostly because I hate writing so much, but participating in class is the easiest for me. I want to work on learning new vocabulary so I can get smarter.
Freedom and Conflict Quick write The benefits of freedom is that you can believe in what you want without people telling you on what to believe in, and you have the right to say whatever you want if you disagree on something. The cost of freedom is that people abuse it. For example in religion people believe in killing people which is wrong. Conflict and freedom interrelate because there are conflicts about freedom and how people abuse it. No they are not opposites because they both happen everyday in the same subject such as protests. There is a strange relationship between conflicts and freedom because before I never knew that freedom needed conflicts in order to keep check on the government until I learned it today.
What does it mean to be American Being American is having freedom and not being followed and not having anyone to tell you what to do. A lot of people move to America because we are the country who has freedom and people that live somewhere else struggle cause they are always followed.
